Gutter Installation: Sectional vs. Seamless

Here’s the reality when it comes to gutters: homeowners don’t pay too much attention to them until they have to or until it’s too late. In most cases, homeowners only notice them when it’s pouring, and the gutters are not doing a good job of draining water from the roof.

Like other parts of your home, gutters serve an important purpose. Unless you want to do some emergency roof repairs, you need to give your gutters attention.

Here are a few things you need to know about gutter installation and repair:

Sectional Gutters

You can choose from two basic types of gutters for your home – sectional and seamless.

If you’re the type that loves DIY work, go for sectional gutters. This type of gutter doesn’t require any special equipment for installation, which is why most homeowners go for such gutters. But, there’s a major downside for this type of gutter. It’s more prone to leaking. If one section becomes clogged, your entire gutter is at risk of leaks. What’s worse is if the sections can’t hold the weight of the water, causing your entire gutter system to collapse.

Seamless Gutters

Seamless gutter installation offers fewer risks of leaking or points of failure compared to sectional gutters. Seamless gutters only have a single piece, so they’re less likely to leak in case there’s blockage of water. You can also get a far more superior seamless gutter for the same price as sectional gutters – installation included. You don’t have to go through the risks of doing the job yourself, and you end up with better gutters.

Which of the two should you choose then? Smart money is on seamless gutters because they’re more durable and require less upkeep than sectional gutters.
